The latest in surgical technology
At York Hospital, we leverage four advanced surgical systems in particular. They are:
Exactech GPS Mapping System
Exactech GPS Mapping technology is used for shoulder replacement surgeries. The navigation system, always under a surgeon’s control, helps achieve better patient outcomes including an exact fit. For a more detailed look, watch this video.
Inspire Therapy
Patients who have been unsuccessful with CPAP therapy, and who have been diagnosed with moderate to severe OSA, can benefit from this FDA-approved obstructive sleep apnea (OSA) treatment.
Specific criteria must be followed to qualify for this procedure, which is offered here at York Hospital. To learn more, please reach out to your provider. Get additional information here.
Mako SmartRobotics
Mako SmartRobotics is used for total and partial knee and hip replacements, and has transformed the way joint replacement surgeries are performed. York Hospital is one of the first hospitals in the Seacoast region to leverage this technology.
Each patient is provided a personalized surgical experience based on their specific diagnosis and anatomy. It also means better outcomes for the patient, including:
- A shorter hospital stay
- A quicker recovery
- Less pain in the days and weeks following surgery

da Vinci Xi Surgical Robotic System
York Hospital has a number of surgeons who perform robotic-assisted surgery using a da Vinci system. This technology is beneficial because it extends the capabilities of their eyes and hands.
The da Vinci vision system provides 3D high-definition views for your surgeon, giving them a clear view of the surgical area that is magnified 10 times to what the human eye can see. To perform the surgery, your surgeon uses tiny instruments that move much like a human hand but with a far greater range of motion. The system’s built-in tremor-filtration technology helps your surgeon move their instruments with steady precision.
During the procedure, your surgeon is with you in the operating room, seated at the da Vinci system console that gives your surgeon control of the instruments he or she uses to perform your surgery.
